A&W Consulting is a family-centered consulting partnership specializing in behavior support, trainings, advocacy, and skill development in the home, community, and school settings. We partner with families and organizations to support children with diverse learning and behavioral needs, ensuring access to appropriate services and meaningful progress. Our mission at A&W Consulting is to empower families and children, support educators, provide relevant and actionable trainings, and improve student outcomes through collaborative and realistic strategies.

Services

We serve individual families, school systems, and related organizations to bridge the gap between home and school.  We provide high quality behavior consultation, deliver engaging evidenced-based training, provide focused caregiver support, and support families navigating the IEP/504 process. We focus on decreasing problem behaviors while increasing positive behaviors across settings and teach explicit skill acquisition goals, including communication and daily living skills, utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). With over 25 combined years in school settings and over 10 combined years of experience as Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), we bring both practical school-based experience and clinical expertise to our clients. Our supports are practical, consistent, and built to last.

About the Owners

Allison Stotmeister, MA, BCBA, LBA

With over 10 years of experience in the classroom, my career has spanned the full continuum of special education. From leading general education classrooms to teaching in separate specialized day schools, I have seen firsthand the unique challenges students and educators face in every setting. Since becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2019, I have extended this expertise into clinics, homes, and school-wide consultations. This diverse background allows me to serve as a bridge between complex behavioral science and the day-to-day realities of a busy classroom or a bustling household.

My approach to educational consulting and IEP advocacy is rooted in the belief that support must be both effective and sustainable. I am deeply passionate about promoting positive behavior by prioritizing functional communication—giving students the tools they need to express themselves and reducing the need for challenging behaviors. I focus on providing realistic suggestions, moving away from overly clinical jargon to offer actionable strategies that teachers and parents can actually apply. My goal is to ensure that every IEP is a living, breathing document that truly supports the child’s growth while empowering the adults in their lives with the confidence to lead.

When I’m not working, you can find me playing with my two daughters, who love the outdoors and making crafts with far too much glitter. Being a parent has given me a deeper level of empathy for families and educators and reminds me why accessible, compassionate support is so vital.

Sarah Walter, M.Ed, BCBA, LBA

Through various positions I’ve held over the last couple decades, my passion always comes back to servicing families and children’s individual needs through a collaborative process.

I was a Special Education teacher for over 10 years in Maryland teaching and supporting in various settings from Pre-K to 8th grade. My background includes a wide range of abilities and needs, with a focus on significant problem behaviors. From these experiences, I believe in positive reinforcement for children through the implementation of evidence-based interventions.

As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) since 2021, I have worked with children 2 to 16 years old. I love the ability to individualize services across settings while also supporting the generalization of skills and empowering the whole family unit.

I believe very strongly in skill development and building independence for the future through individual goals. The establishment of A&W Consulting allows me to integrate my skills in order to implement critical principles on a broader scale with a partner who believes in the same ideals.

When I am not working, you can usually find me hiking a National Park trail or traveling to a new city to explore the local culture and cuisine. I am always open to any and all recommendations of places to visit and foods to try.
